12 Days of Christmas/Day 4 (Holy Innocents)

December 28 is marked as the Feast of the Holy Innocents. It is a memorial to the baby boys who Herod had put to death at the time of Jesus's birth. It's a day set aside to ponder the truth that although the birth of Christ was a joyful event, evil was present as well. And while the Light of Life would (and ultimately will completely) overtake darkness, we are not to live our lives with our ears closed to the suffering of others.

So although it is a more somber day within the Christmastide festivities, it helps us remember to pray for those who, today, are suffering at the hands of violence and injustice. With this is mind, let me offer 2 ministries who need our prayers as they walk alongside those who need support and wisdom.

One is the Genesis Center of North Texas in Kaufman. When you purchase from Jubilee Seasons, we give a donation back to the Genesis Center. These are words from their website, "Genesis Center North Texas is a long-term, faith-based residential program serving women and children recovering from domestic abuse, addiction, and homelessness in Kaufman, TX. For over two decades, we’ve helped transform lives through spiritual guidance, counseling, life skills, and a safe, supportive home." You may learn more about what they offer at https://www.genesiscenter.org

First Look Pregnancy Center is another ministry that walks with those who find themselves in an unplanned or crisis pregnancy situation. "Think you might be pregnant? Whether you’ve been having strange physical symptoms or received a positive result on a pregnancy test, you’re likely feeling overwhelmed with different emotions. Fear, anxiety, worry, and even excitement are all normal reactions to an unexpected pregnancy. But no matter how you’re feeling, you’re not alone in this. At FirstLook, we’re here for you." You may find out more on their website at https://firstlookcenter.org/pregnant/

When you purchase from Jubilee Seasons, we give a donation to the Genesis Center in Kaufman, Texas. This is near and dear to our hearts because women with ADHD are more likely to experience abuse in all of its multifaceted ways–physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Awareness is vital.
