The Waxahachie Farmer's Market is diverse when it comes to its vendors. Yes, there are fresh meats, eggs, milk, veggies, and fruits. And yes, there are speciality baked goods, honey, jellies, coffee, and tea. These are the staples that drive most of us out on any given Saturday morning to explore what the local fare has to offer. But our Farmer's Market is also a haven for innovative creatives who want to offer their talents for the greater good.
Going through shelter in place in 2020 changed us all in many ways. But one thing I hear repeatedly is that many people found innovative ways to be productive during that time, and when it was all said and done, new businesses emerged from the season.
This is true for Snap it Towels by Rosie. As a retiree, Rosie was asked to help her niece make face-masks during the pandemic. Fun fact though: She had never sewn before. But once she got the hang of it, she thought about the towels she used to see hanging on the door handle of ovens. Not being able to find them anywhere, she decided to try her hand at making them herself. She now makes these towels with a snap instead of a crochet button. And, she makes towels, like the one featured, that snap to your wrist becoming handy while you are cooking, cleaning, working outside, or whatever your need may be. I also saw all sorts of different sizes and colors. When I asked her who her towels are made for, she told me she has something for everyone, and I could see that was true.
You can find Rosie at the Downtown Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings as well as on Tic Toc (Snap it Towels by Rosie) and Instagram (@Rosie2450). Jubilee Seasons has been set up next to her booth the last several weeks. She is a delightful lady who has been welcoming and encouraging as I navigated my new vendor experience.
Come see us both this Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 9am to noon. This is the last Saturday of the winter season. April begins the summer session, and the Downtown Farmer's Market in Waxahachie will be open from 8am to 1pm.
