Digging in the Dirt

Spring is here! That means time to tend our flowerbeds and beautify with bright, joyful colors. Because of this, we have rotated out our blankets (no worries, they will be back) and, in their place, we created fun garden flags.

There is nothing quite like digging in the dirt and watching beauty sprout up through our efforts. Actually, gardening is great when it comes to relieving stress for many reasons. Spending time in nature, and specifically getting our hands dirty, is a great way to release endorphines and foster a sense of wellness. There are also good bacteria in soil which can strengthen our immune systems. It has been shown that you burn quite a few calories when you tend your garden. And, digging in the dirt can even help regulate sleep patterns.

This healthy connection to the earth is in direct relationship to the Garden of Eden. Our loving Father created an environment where we could thrive. The earth thrives as we tend to it, as well. When we see growth begin to happen because of our work, there is a deep sense of satisfaction that takes place. It's important to see the fruit of our labor–to experience it–to enjoy it. And, maybe even share it.

I personally am running a bit behind in getting things planted, but it's at the top of my list for April. And now, I have fun, colorful assessories ready to brighten up my yard!

Happy digging!

If you are looking to give to something you know will make a difference in someone's life, we highly recommend the Genesis Center in Kaufman, Texas. Kristene has been privileged to connect with these ladies on several occasions. She has found the staff to be highly relational and committed; and the ladies in their care are thankful for a safe place to learn how to navigate life after extremely traumatic events.
