Rooted in Scripture and informed by the latest discoveries in neuroscience, nutrition, and holistic health, each issue explores what it means to cultivate the gift of shalom–where body, mind, soul, and spirit are continually being renewed in Christ.

What if understanding our bodies could become an invitation–not to fear, but to wise stewardship?
In this summer issue of Jubilee Seasons Magazine, we explore genetics, chronic illness, and whole person wellness through the lens of both curiosity and hope. We take a closer look at common MTHFR genetic variants, including the questions researchers are asking about their possible relationship to conditions such as fibromyalgia. While current research has not established MTHFR variants as a cause of fibromyalgia, this conversation has personal significance for me. As someone who carries an MTHFR variant, I share some of the practices I use to thoughtfully steward my own health–without suggesting that what has helped me will be right for everyone.
We also explore MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome), the fascinating relationship between genetics and personality, and what it might mean to view caring for our bodies as part of spiritual maturity and faithful stewardship.
But beneath all of these conversations is something even more important: we do not have to become afraid of our biology.
A genetic test is information. Our bodies are wonderfully complex, and no single variant tells the whole story of who we are or what our future will hold. We can learn about our biology, seek wise advice, nourish ourselves well, and make thoughtful choices without allowing health information to become another source of fear.
For us, this is where faith and stewardship meet. We look to Jesus as our healer and place our ultimate hope in Him, while asking for wisdom to care well for the bodies and lives we have been given.
